Is there something missing on the Server R2 instance that is causing this? The Win instance is fine - it's just the instance on R2 that is having this issue. I am hoping that the feedback log submitted from Dave yields a response from Microsoft. I'd use adLongVarWChar, but in principle it is the same. It's a hack but it may be the only option we ever get. It's a decent workaround, is there much more memory usage using these fields? I think long term, it would be best to move away from MSDataShape. If there is any more memory usage it's hard to notice.
